Jakub Matějů to head the Macroeconomic Forecasting Division
Jakub Matějů, Deputy Executive Director of the Monetary Department of the Czech National Bank (CNB), has been appointed Acting Director of the department’s Macroeconomic Forecasting Division from 1 January 2025. The CNB Bank Board made this decision at its meeting on 5 December.
The position of director of the Macroeconomic Forecasting Division has been vacant since Karel Musil left the CNB at his own request on 30 November 2024.
Jakub Matějů graduated from the Institute of Economic Studies of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Charles University and received a PhD in economics from CERGE-EI. He joined the CNB in 2012 as an economist in the Monetary Department. He then also worked at the European Central Bank and as a senior economist in the analytical team of Komerční banka. In 2019, he returned to the CNB as an adviser to the Bank Board and since 2023 has been the Deputy Executive Director of the Monetary Department. He has published numerous research papers in leading international journals and has won several Czech Economic Society Young Economist awards and the CNB’s Economic Research Award for his research.
