Jakub Seidler joins the CNB Bank Board
The seven-member Bank Board of the Czech National Bank (CNB) has a new line-up from 1 December 2024. Jakub Seidler has taken up his position as Bank Board member by appointment of the President of the Czech Republic. CNB Governor Aleš Michl welcomed him to his new role today.
“The switch from the position of an analyst who follows the central bank’s each and every step to the role of monetary policy-maker is no doubt very interesting and I am looking forward to it. However, I approach my new duties with humility, as I have personally experienced many times in recent years how quickly economic projections can change. This uncertainty about the future will be crucial for me when making monetary policy and weighing up all the potential inflationary and anti-inflationary risks,” said Bank Board member Jakub Seidler.
The Bank Board is the supreme governing body of the CNB. Its main activities include setting monetary and macroprudential policy and making decisions on measures in the area of financial market supervision. It usually decides on monetary policy eight times a year. The next monetary policy meeting will take place on 19 December 2024.
The Bank Board consists of seven members appointed by the President of the Czech Republic for a maximum of two six-year terms. As of 1 December, they are Governor Aleš Michl, Deputy Governor Eva Zamrazilová, Deputy Governor Jan Frait and Bank Board members Karina Kubelková, Jan Kubíček, Jan Procházka and Jakub Seidler.
