Petr Sklenář to become Executive Director of the Monetary Department

With effect from 1 June 2025, Petr Sklenář will become the new Executive Director of the Czech National Bank’s Monetary Department. He was appointed to this position by the Bank Board on 20 March 2025 on the basis of a selection procedure. Until Petr Sklenář assumes office, the Monetary Department will be led by Jakub Matějů, the current Deputy Executive Director in charge of the Macroeconomic Forecasting Division.

Petr Sklenář graduated in national economics from the Faculty of Economics and Administration at Masaryk University in Brno. He started his professional career as a financial analyst at Atlantik finanční trhy, where he specialised in macroeconomic analysis and forecasting of the Czech economy. He has been Chief Economist at J&T Banka since 2011. His work involves macroeconomic data analyses, economic forecasting and assessing the financial market situation. He repeatedly won the Best Economic Forecaster Awards for the Czech Republic, granted by FocusEconomics (in 2021–2023).
