On 8 January 2020 the Czech National Bank is issuing a CZK 200 commemorative silver coin to mark the 500th anniversary of the start of the minting of the Jáchymov thaler. The coin is minted from an alloy containing 925 parts silver and 75 parts copper and is issued in two versions, normal quality and proof quality, which differ in surface treatment and edge marking. Proof-quality coins have a highly polished field, a matt relief and a plain edge with the inscription in Czech “ČESKÁ NÁRODNÍ BANKA * Ag 0.925 * 13 g *”. Normal quality coins have milled edges. The coin is 31 mm in diameter, weighs 13 g and is 2.3 mm thick. As with any other coins, deviations in diameter of 0.1 mm and thickness of 0.15 mm are allowed. Upward deviations in weight of 0.26 g and silver content of 1% are permitted.
The coin field on the obverse side of the coin features the obverse and reverse sides of an undated Jáchymov thaler. The outer edge of the coin has an incomplete beaded border. The denomination and abbreviated monetary unit “200 Kč” is located at the upper edge of the coin. The text “ČESKÁ REPUBLIKA” is located at the lower edge of the coin and below it is the mark of the Czech Mint formed by the letters “Č” and “M”. The reverse side of the coin preserves the composition of the obverse side, with portraits of the issuers of the Jáchymov thaler, Count Štěpán Schlik on the left and Louis the Jagiellonian, King of Bohemia, on the right. The outer edge of the coin has an incomplete beaded border. The years “1520–2020” are located at the upper edge of the coin. The text “JÁCHYMOVSKÉ TOLARY” is located at the lower edge of the coin. The initials of the designer of the coin, Veronika Adamcová, composed of the letters “V” and “A”, are located beneath the text “TOLARY”.
Each coin comes with a light grey catalogue card containing a description and the relief of the coin.
