On 15 June 2022 the Czech National Bank is putting into circulation a CZK 500 commemorative silver coin with enamel “Jawa 250 motorcycle”. The coin is minted from an alloy containing 925 parts silver and 75 parts copper and is issued in two versions, normal quality and proof quality, which differ in surface treatment and edge marking. Normal quality coins have milled edges. Proof-quality coins have a highly polished field, a matt relief and a plain edge with the inscription “ČNB * MOTOCYKL * KÝVAČKA *”. The coin is 40 mm in diameter, weighs 25 g and is 2.6 mm thick. The maximum issuance limit for the coin is 30,000 pieces.
The obverse side of the coin features three views of parts of the Jawa 250 motorcycle. The text “ČESKÁ” is situated at the left-hand upper edge of the coin. The text “REPUBLIKA” is located near the right-hand lower edge of the coin. The denomination and abbreviated monetary unit “500 Kč” are written in the right-hand upper part of the coin. The mark of the Czech Mint, in the form of the letters “Č” and “M”, is situated near the left-hand lower edge of the coin. The reverse side of the coin features the Jawa 250 motorcycle placed on a stand on a floor made up of part of a motif from the manufacturer’s logo, and two fragments from technical drawings of the motorcycle. The authentic colours of the motorcycle are indicated on the coin using red and black synthetic enamel. The text “JAWA 250” is at the upper edge of the coin, and the text “2022” is situated at the right-hand edge. The initials of the designer of the coin Petra Brodská – made up of the intertwined letters “P” and “B” – are located near the left-hand edge of the coin.
Each coin comes with a red catalogue card containing a description and the relief of the coin.
The Czech National Bank sells its commemorative coins through contractual partners licensed to trade in numismatic material.
