On 21 August 2024, the Czech National Bank is putting into circulation a CZK 100 commemorative silver coin depicting the Security Information Service from the Institutions of the Czech Republic cycle. The coin is minted from an alloy containing 925 parts silver and 75 parts copper and is issued only in proof quality. Proof-quality coins have a highly polished field, a matt relief and a plain edge. The coin is 29 mm in diameter, weighs 9 g and is 1.8 mm thick. As with any other coins, deviations in diameter of 0.1 mm and thickness of 0.15 mm are allowed. Upward deviations in weight of 0.18 g and silver content of 1% are permitted.
Coin description
The centre of the obverse side of the coin features a framed composition of heraldic animals from the large national coat-of-arms of the Czech Republic on a stylised emblem of the Security Information Service. The text “ČESKÁ REPUBLIKA” and the denomination and abbreviated monetary unit “100 Kč” are inscribed along the upper edge of the coin. The year of mintage “2024” is situated at the lower edge of the coin. The mark of the Czech Mint, in the form of the letters “Č” and “M”, is to the right of the year of mintage.
The reverse side of the coin depicts the front façade of the Security Information Service building, which is complemented with the wings of the eagle from the Security Information Service’s emblem, which feature in the upper and lower parts of the coin. Below the building is the text “AUDI ▪ VIDE ▪ TACE”. The text “BEZPEČNOSTNÍ INFORMAČNÍ SLUŽBA” is written along the upper edge of the coin. The initials of the designer of the coin Veronika Durová – made up of the letters “V” and “D” – are located below the word “VIDE”.
