On 18 June 2024 the Czech National Bank is putting into circulation a partially plated CZK 500 commemorative silver coin “ČKD Tatra T3 tram”. The coin is minted from an alloy containing 925 parts silver and 75 parts copper and is issued in two versions, normal quality and proof quality, which differ in surface treatment and edge marking. Normal quality coins have milled edges. Proof-quality coins have a highly polished field, a matt relief and a plain edge with the inscription “ČNB * TRAMVAJ * T3 *”. The coins have a weight of 25 g, a diameter of 40 mm and a thickness of 2.6 mm. The maximum issuance limit for the coin is 30,000 pieces.
The upper part of the obverse side of the coin features a composition of part of the side view and the front view of the ČKD Tatra T3 tram. The lower part of the coin depicts a detail of a section of the underframe. The text “ČESKÁ REPUBLIKA” is written at the upper edge of the coin. The denomination and abbreviated monetary unit “500 Kč” are written around the lower edge of the coin. The mark of the Czech Mint, in the form of the letters “Č” and “M”, is located near the right-hand edge of the coin. The reverse side of the coin features an oblique view of the ČKD Tatra T3 tram, including the overhead wires and rails. A simplified colour scheme of the tram is illustrated on the coin using partial plating in yellow and red gold. The lower edge of the coin bears the text “ČKD TATRA T3”. The right-hand edge of the coin features the text “2024” and a composition of the initials of the designer of the coin Zbyněk Fojtů, made up of the letters “F” and “Z”. The individual parts of the texts and the composition of initials are separated with dots.
Each coin comes with a light brown catalogue card containing a description and the relief of the coin.
