On 28 May 2024 the Czech National Bank is issuing the seventh gold coin from the Municipal Heritage Sites cycle. It features the town of Olomouc. The coin is minted from 999.9 purity gold and is issued in two versions, normal quality and proof quality, which differ in surface treatment and edge marking. Proof-quality coins have a highly polished field, a matt relief and a plain edge. Normal quality coins have milled edges. The coin is 28 mm in diameter, weighs 15.55 g and is 1.85 mm thick. Deviations in diameter of 0.1 mm and thickness of 0.15 mm are allowed. Upward deviations in weight of 0.062 g and in gold content of 0.01% are allowed.
The obverse side of the coin features heraldic animals from the large national coat-of-arms in a strip located in the centre of the coin field – the Czech lion at the top, the Moravian eagle in the middle and the Silesian eagle at the bottom. The denomination and abbreviated monetary unit “5 000 Kč” are below the Silesian eagle. Stylised Gothic vaults are situated to the left of the heraldic animals, and an architectural fragment of the Olomouc town hall with its astronomical clock
is located to their right. The text “MĚSTSKÉ PAMÁTKOVÉ REZERVACE” is situated near the left-hand edge of the coin. The text “ČESKÁ REPUBLIKA” is located near the right-hand upper edge of the coin. The mark of the Czech Mint, in the form of the letters “Č” and “M”, is located to the left of the central strip.
The reverse side of the coin features a collage of Olomouc’s major architectural monuments. The Holy Trinity Column and the bell tower of the Church of St Maurice are depicted in the foreground. The ground plan of the Church of St Maurice, including a depiction of the vault ribbing, is featured in the background. The text “MĚSTO OLOMOUC” is written at the upper edge of the coin. The year of mintage “2024” is situated at the right-hand bottom edge of the coin. The initials of the designer of the coin Zbyněk Fojtů, made up of the letters “F” and “Z”, are located to the left of the upper part of the Holy Trinity Column.
Each coin comes with a red catalogue card containing a description and the relief of the coin.
