Monetary presentation of the balance of payments
The monetary presentation of the balance of payments is a tool for assessing the impacts of balance of payments transactions involving non-bank residents on monetary developments. The net external assets are total bank receivables minus their total liabilities vis-à-vis non-residents. An increase in the net external position of monetary financial institutions usually leads to monetary growth and vice versa. The monetary presentation of the balance of payments serves to analyse monetary developments and shows the impact of financial and non-financial balance of payments transactions on monetary developments in the given period.
