IOSCO
The International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) was born in 1983 from the transformation of its ancestor inter-American regional association into an international institution. IOSCO’s aim is to cooperate together to promote high standards of regulation in order to maintain just, efficient and sound capital markets. Thanks to a Multilateral Memorandum of Understanding adopted in 2002, IOSCO has significantly contributed to enhancing cross-border enforcement and exchange of information among capital market supervisors. IOSCO currently has 110 ordinary members, 11 associate members and 73 affiliate members.
The CNB signed the IOSCO Multilateral Memorandum of Understanding in March 2007. It cooperates actively with specific countries under the Memorandum. CNB representatives are involved mainly in the European Regional Committee (IOSCO ERC) and the Emerging Markets Committee (IOSCO EMC) and also attend the IOSCO annual conference.
