Insurance and reinsurance companies and insurance intermediaries
The laws and regulations in the insurance area apply to domestic insurance companies and domestic reinsurance companies under the Insurance Act and insurance distributors and policyholders of group insurance under the Act on Insurance and Reinsurance Distribution. Branches of foreign insurance and reinsurance companies from non-EEA countries are also regulated in respect of activities carried on within the Czech Republic. Branches of foreign insurance and reinsurance companies from EEA countries are primarily subject to regulation of and supervision by the country in which their head offices are located.
Further practical information, for example regarding licensing and registration proceedings, the reporting obligations towards the CNB and the information system for the registration of insurance intermediaries (REGIS), is available on separate pages.
